Our Final Challenge – Shape Up

February 7, 2011

Sadly, due to continuing lack of  participation, I have decided that this will be our last challenge on Mixed Media Monday. We have had a really good run, made lots of great friends and have been inspired by each other. Thankyou to everyone who has participated over the years. I would especially like to thank the special group of people who have been guest hosts, without you MMM wouldn’t have been such a fun and vibrant place to play. So thank you, one and all.

For our final challenge, I would like you to work on a shape that you find pleasing and/or challenging.  Don’t forget to check back at the end of the month to see the sampler and Art of the Week.

There are lots of other wonderful challenge blogs for you to play in, and I am sure we will see each other at some of them 🙂

Size Matters

January 3, 2011

Your challenge this month is to create a piece of artwork in a size that is outside your comfort zone.  That could be anything from an inchy to a huge piece, it is entirely up to you. Don’t forget to let us know in your post about the size of your piece and why it was a challenge to you. Have fun!

‘Tis the Season

December 6, 2010

The challenge this month is to create a piece that reflects this season for you. It might be something to do with Christmas or Hannukah, or it might be simply a wintry or summery piece.  It’s up to you to interpret the theme in any way that suits you.  Have fun!

Boxing Clever

November 1, 2010

This week Carol is here for the first time to host a challenge for us.  She has chosen “boxing clever” as your challenge prompt, and created this amazing box to inspire us all.  This challenge simply means you need to use some sort of box in your piece – that could mean an altered box, a handmade box, a shadow box.  Or you could draw a box in your piece or made a card with a box stamp on it.  This is, as always, entirely open to however you’d like to interpret it. Have fun being “boxing clever”!  And remember, you have until the end of November to get your piece finished and posted on our blog.

Shrines

October 4, 2010

For our first monthly challenge, we are very lucky to have the very talented Zuzu here to guest host.  Zuzu has chosen “shrines” as her challenge prompt.  This can be as elaborate or as simple as you like – anything from a tri-fold ATC to something like our wonderful example Zuzu made.  Here’s some of what Zuzu had to say: “Whether it’s a folding Icon type shrine made of card, a Shrine laid out on a rock or a bedroom dresser or something more solid with a niche hollowed out, I love them. Or maybe you’re more into something like a Tri-fold cards and ATC icon shrines., or metal mexican folk art nichos… The possibilities are endless.”

Remember you have a full month to post your piece – which is probably just as well since mine got completely painted over late yesterday and I have to start again.  Of course, there is no reason why you can’t post more than  once if you like the challenge!

Art

September 27, 2010

Your challenge this week is “art” – just that one word. It is open  for interpretation in any way you like.  I can’t wait to see what everyone does.

Buttons

September 20, 2010

Your challenge this week is “buttons” – use buttons on your piece of art, or draw some on – or do whatever takes your fancy as long as there is at least one button featured.  Have fun!
